ecuador
damn, the andes are (excuse my french) fucking amazing. they are so huge and the canyons and valleys are so deep it is incredible. having spoken with a man on the bus from medellin to quito, i think that on my return trip i will be able to go and help out in an indegenous village in the ecuadorian andes..... how cool is that. this morning i was chillin outside the office of a bus company called ormeno waiting for it to open. while i was waiting a peruvian guy showed up to wait for the same bus. when it opened we found out that the bus for today was full, but we were able to get a different bus to the border and will be able to go to lima later today. he has been extremely helpful and full of information. he is from the amazon, close to iquitos. anyway i will travel with him to lima and then catch a bus to santiago......whoo hoo. only a few more days left to tunuyan. as always, all my love..............

Paulie, I was thinking about you all day today wondering if you were in Ecuador or Peru. I ran into Nancy Colia at the base of Red Mtn. as we hiked it and she asked about your travels. We caught up on both you and Jeff.
ReplyDeleteHaving learned more about the Andes from the Internet (what a wonderful tool!), over the past few days, I figured you would be amazed - as would I if I were there! I couldn't believe how high in elevation they were. Leadville at 10,000 feet is probably nothing to some of the towns there! I hope you get to spend plenty of time in the mountains once you reach Argentina, since it sounds like you will not be that far from them. You are almost there!!! Exciting!!! Jim says hi!! We miss you!
Love,
Mom and Jim
Pablo,
ReplyDeleteYour trip over the andes sounded awesome. I would love to experience that. I'm so glad you are getting close to your destination and you will be able to relax a bit. Your trip so far is definitely something I would love. Reminds me of our time in New Zealand but a whole lot more wild. Can't wait to hear more from you. Love Dad
Paulie!
ReplyDeleteYou are amazing and I am so glad that you are connecting with others and keeping focus on your ultimate destination(s).
I have been to Lima twice and Iquitos and then on the Amazon river to a remote spot so you will love it. And - be very, very careful - as you know well by now. I was approached and "lightly" mugged in Iquitos. Probably because I stuck out like a sore thumb as a white, blonde American woman, but be on your game.
Sounds like you will be near Patagonia where we went 2 years ago. You think the Andes are powerful and amazing...wait until you get to Chile!! I cannot wait to see your pics. I love, love, love you so much and know that you are on my mind, in my heart and a part of my soul - always! xxooooxx Aunt Lois
Yo dude,
ReplyDeleteHow about some communication? I'm a little worried. Just let us know that all is well.
Love ya, Dad
